Bell County Sheriff's Office and Jail

The Bell County Sheriff's Office operates two detention facilities. The Central Jail is at 111 W. Central Ave., Belton, TX 76513. The Loop Jail is at 2405 S. Loop 121, Belton, TX 76513. The Sheriff's Office provides multiple services through its website, including job applications, court hearing searches, court records access, and the inmate location portal. The department serves the entire county, which includes Killeen, Temple, Belton, and several other cities. Inmates at Bell County Jail may have two free 20-minute onsite visits per week. Remote video visitation is also available daily from 11 AM to 7 PM. Onsite visitation is scheduled by last name, with Sunday and Tuesday for last names A-M (9 AM to 7 PM) and Thursday and Saturday for last names N-Z (9 AM to 7 PM).

The Bell County Inmate Inquiry Portal is available 24 hours a day for public searches. You can search by name, subject number, booking number, current custody status, or booking date ranges. Search results show inmate photos, names, subject numbers, custody status, and scheduled release dates. The portal shows the current number of inmates in custody and displays up to 100 results per page. Clicking on an inmate name opens a detailed record showing mugshot, booking history, charge information, and bond type and amount.

Bell County Jail: Mail and Accounts

Effective June 20, 2022, all inmate mail except legal and medical mail must be addressed to: Smart Communications/Bell Co Sheriff's Office, followed by the inmate name and booking number, PO Box 9146. Regular mail not following this format will be returned to the sender. Legal mail must be clearly marked as such and will be handled separately.

Money for inmate commissary accounts can be added using the kiosk in the detention center lobby Monday through Friday, 6 AM to 9 PM. The kiosk accepts both cash and credit/debit cards. The facility provides rehabilitation programs including educational services, substance abuse treatment, and vocational training for eligible inmates.

Requesting Bell County Arrest Records

For copies of arrest reports, incident reports, or other official records from Bell County, submit a written public information request to the Sheriff's Office. Include the subject's full name, date of birth, approximate arrest date, and what records you need. Under Texas Government Code Chapter 552, the agency has 10 business days to respond.
