Kerr County Jail and Sheriff's Office

The Kerr County Jail is located at 400 Clearwater Paseo, Kerrville, TX 78028. The jail phone number is (830) 896-1257. The facility was expanded in 2016 from 192 beds to 328 beds to accommodate the county's growing inmate population. It houses in-county inmates as well as individuals from select other jurisdictions through contracted arrangements. The facility operates with over 40 corrections officers under Jail Administrator Sylvia Foraker, who brings more than 27 years of law enforcement experience. The jail has earned 100 percent scores on every annual State Jail Inspection it has undergone.

The facility uses 240 state-of-the-art cameras throughout, providing comprehensive security coverage. The Kerr County Sheriff's Office is the primary law enforcement agency generating arrest records in the county. In 2023, the office recorded 99 total arrests: 38 violent crime arrests including 2 murders, 5 rapes, 5 robberies, and 26 assaults, plus 61 property crime arrests covering 20 burglaries, 31 larcenies, and 2 auto thefts.

Visitation scheduling is handled by calling (830) 315-2480, available Tuesday through Thursday between 8:30 AM and 11:30 AM, and again from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM.

Kerr County Jail Visitation Rules

Male inmate visitation takes place on Fridays and Saturdays, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Female inmate visitation is on Sundays, also 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Children may visit on the appropriate gender-specific days. Each inmate is allowed one one-hour visit or two thirty-minute visits per week. Appointments must be scheduled Tuesday through Thursday only.

All visitors must present a valid state driver's license or government-issued ID. No one under 17 is allowed in the facility except when accompanied by a legal guardian. Visitors who show signs of alcohol or drug use will be turned away. Jail administration reserves the right to deny entry to improperly dressed individuals or those suspected of carrying contraband.

Sending Money and Mail to Kerr County Inmates

Money can be deposited into an inmate's commissary account by mailing a money order to Kerr County Inmate Commissary, 400 Clearwater Paseo, Kerrville, Texas 78028. You can also use the kiosk at the jail entrance 24 hours a day or deposit online at JAILATM.COM. Cash deposits at the kiosk carry a $3.25 fee. Credit and debit card deposits are charged a 10 percent fee. Commissary orders are placed on Tuesdays and received on Thursdays.

Inmate mail should be addressed to the inmate's full name and Sheriff's Office number, then sent to: Kerr County Jail, PO Box 591, Longview, TX 75606. All envelopes must include a return address. Indigent inmates receive personal hygiene items, paper, a pen, envelopes, and stamps on a weekly basis regardless of their account balance.

Note: Legal mail is handled separately and must be clearly labeled. It should be addressed directly to the jail in Kerrville, not to the Longview PO Box used for general mail.
